Worker killed at Elizabethtown automotive parts factory

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — A worker at an automotive parts factory in Elizabethtown was accidentally killed early Tuesday morning.

According to a release from Elizabethtown Police, the accident happened around 3 a.m. at Metalsa.

The company makes metallic structures, including bumpers, fuel tanks, and other supporting parts for heavy and light trucks, according to their website.

Investigators said Lance Winemiller, 24, was accidentally hit by a forklift while working. He died at the scene from his injuries.

Metalsa released a statement regarding the incident Tuesday evening.

"We are very saddened by this event and one of our main priorities is to be close to the affected family and colleagues to offer them our support and care.

For the moment, we are unable to share further details as we continue cooperating with the proper authorities who are still investigating the incident.

All of us at Metalsa express our sorrow and send our deepest condolences to the affected family and friends. We also appreciate everyone's support and understanding during this difficult time."
